Our Diamonds — Dholakia Lab Grown Diamond (DLGD)

HOW WE PRODUCE ROUGH

LAB GROWN DIAMONDS?

Dholakia Lab Grown Diamond Pvt Ltd (DLGD) has its rough growing and manufacturing facility with state-of-the-art machines and a high-tech lab. Our scientists and expert engineers have refined the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process to eliminate the gases and elements that result in colors and defects. The process simply re-creates the conditions in nature that result in carbon crystallizing into a diamond. This also means that Dholakia Lab Grown Diamond look totally natural with predictable variations in color and clarity. Not all lab diamonds are colorless and flawless. Just like in nature, no two lab created diamonds are alike. Each is unique and one of a kind - think of it as nature improved. The result is the most exceptionally created rough diamond crystal in the world.

OUR PROCESS USING

STATE OF ART MACHINES AND HIGH TECH LAB

State of art machines

The diamond seeds are loaded into a CVD reactor. Then, a mix of gases containing carbon is added at very low pressure. Microwave energy is used to heat the gases and generate plasma. When the temperatures climb over several thousand degrees, the gas molecules break apart and carbon atoms bond to the seeds, growing them one layer at a time.

WE HAVE OUR OWN

MANUFACTURING FACILITY FOR POLISHING DIAMONDS

Manufacturing process

Each Rough Lab Grown Diamond undergoes multiple processes to be transformed into a piece of scintillating beauty.

OUR PROCESS FOR

MANUFACTURING DIAMONDS

Manufacturing diamonds

SORTING

Each rough diamond needs to be sorted before it is cut and polished. Once the gem-quality diamonds are separated, they are further sorted based on the 4C's i.e. Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat.

PLANNING

Rough planning is a complex and very important part of the process of manufacturing diamonds. Owing to technological advancement, it is possible to maximize the yield achieved from polishing rough diamonds. This is enabled by creating a 3D surface model of the rough diamond, plotting the clarity features, planning the cutting and polishing for maximum output and the pre-process sorting.

Once the plan has been selected, if the stone needs to be cut then it will be marked by an automated laser sawing to show the cleaver/sawyer where the cut needs to be made.

Laser sawing

LASER SAWING

The introduction of this process has been a boon for the diamond industry owing to the time and money saved. It enables the cutting of material that previously would have been impossible to do and reduces damage to a great extent. It also allows for a vast assortment of fancy shapes, and there are no restrictions by the crystal structure of the diamond. Once the diamond is laser sawn, it looks blackish and opaque, however, once the cleaning procedure is done, it reverts to the original appearance.

BRUTING/SHAPING

Bruting is the process of rounding or shaping the diamond by rotating it against another diamond. The cutter works on sawn, cleaved, or whole stones. It is at this stage that the diamond receives its precise shape, the exact diameter and location of the girdle, and the locations of the table and culet.

Blocking and girdling

CUTTING AND POLISHING

Diamond cutting is not only an art but also a very precise science. It takes years of training to master the skills required to be a competent diamond cutter and polisher.

To shape a raw stone to its perfect dimensions, symmetry, and polish, precise craftsmanship and experience are necessary. It is the only way to achieve the beautiful reflection of light through a perfectly crafted diamond.

The fraction of diamond facets and polish of a diamond that impacts the overall look, brilliance, fire, luminescence, and quality of the diamond is referred to as the diamond cut. The cut of a diamond is rated on a scale of Brilliant to Bad.

The entire process of cutting and polishing the diamond takes several hours to transform the rough stone into a glittering beauty.
